It's so frustrating because this game could have been much more better imo. I think I only have to actually defeat Wrath this time, then Pride, and then I don't know if there's something else after that, but I doubt it will radicaly change my view of the game. The second phase is just a gimmick, and a bad one imo. Gluttony was fun for the first meeting, but then it ends up being just this tentacle that was so bad as a fight, easy and not interesting ion the slightest. Lust is the game's tentative of a hard double fight? Lol These 2 were like "sure Fury, you can kite both of us all fight long, no worries" It didn't even feel like cheesing sionce they walk so slow and only dash from far away to receive easy counters. Wrath is the most classical first boss fight from this type of game, had 2 moves, downed first try.Įnvy, sloth and Greed plainly suck imo, not interesting encounters and very easy.
I just wish it was in better designed encounters.īosses are nothing to write home about, I'm not even sure I remember all of them : Most of the time I knew that I kept playing because I want to see the story unfold(yeah there isn't much story at the point I'm at) and not because I'm enjoying the encounters, which is a shame because Fury is a great character, and feels great to play. It's not that much of a problem, since I advanced through the game with no issue, but it made for a not so enjoyable experience. I might be wrong, but that's how it feel to me. I feel like they artificially made the game more difficult because of technical choices rather than well designed fights. Combined with the awful camera in these corridors and the fact that ennemies will hit you at the same time (I don't mind that btw if camera didn't get in the way^^).
#Darksiders 3 lust full#
since the game mechanics are so easy and you can pretty much dodge and safely counter everything, they put so many veeeeery confined areas like very narrow corridors full of ennemies who can 2 shot you if you don't perfect dodge them. I fel like this aspect influenced the level design, and in a bad way. It's fun for 5 minutes, but then every encounter became quite boring for me, since I did not have to take care of the ennemy behavior, just their first hit everytime. Once I realised that(and that was very early in the game), I completely stopped learning ennemy patterns, and simply perfect dodged their first hits because 100% of the time you have a window for 2+ safe hits. Perfect dodges are easy to make, ans they have the very particular (and imo stupid) capacity of stopping an ennemy combo if you perfect dodge one of their hit. However I feel like this is also a problem because I feel that one of the issues I have with the game comes from the very forgiving and unlimited perfect dodges. This is not a problem since the iframe's of the dodges are so forgiving.
There is a lot to like for me, I enjoy the glass canon aspect of Fury, the risk/reward of being so overpowered over every ennemies, but if they hit you twice in succession, you're gone. Not gonna expand on the choice of no button config, I was mad for 5 minutes because I hate their config, but it was easy getting used to it, so it's fine, but I'm so certain the gamplay would feel much better with another config.
I find it so frustrating how I really feel like there could be a good game buried under all the bad decisions that were took. I'm a big fan of the franchise, and for every Darksiders game that came out, I never found 1 or 2 perfect, but they what they did right they did very well, and the charm and appeal of each game was undeniable in its own way. I feel like I'm close to the end (Killed Gluttony and I'm in the Drilling Annex) So thanks to PS+ I'm finally playing through Darksiders 3.
